Personal Project This brief, written by myself is to brand and advertise a Gallery that exhibits a range of creative talents, and whom's exhibitions change frequently. My concept is to use white space to represent the gallery space and flashes of colour to represent the frequent change of exhibitions. I used stop motion to produce an advert for the gallery. I chose the name spectrum for the gallery as it means a range or colours. The brief was to design three page's of an A2 newspaper layout. The first page was to be a front cover, the second for a main article and the third a page inspired by a letter. This project was definitely why I chose to do ISTD in fourth year as I found it so enjoyable, and during this project I found I was able to learn a great deal. There are aspects of the first two pages I would change a great deal. The aim of the brief was to reinterpret a category. The categories where brands, services or product. I have chosen to reinterpret the brand GP a global battery brand, focusing on their rechargeable range. I chose to rebrand a batteries brand as through research it was apparent that there was very much a typical style that most battery brands used. I wanted to break away from this style and bring something to the market that has not been seen before to stand out from the rest. My design uses bright colours and metallic packaging to communicate to the consumer the strength of the batteries. The batteries are sold in small units as they are rechargeable. A unique selling point of the batteries are that when they loose charge they fade in colour, the words ‘time to recharge’ are revealed in a type reversal from the batteries original colour. Showing users when it is time to recharge. Out of this unique feature I have created a campaign to advertise these GP products. I have redesigned GP’s logo to make it simplistic and modern.
